Sleep disorders

Innovative diagnosis and treatment

Our sleep laboratory specialises in diagnosing a variety of sleep disorders, including sleep apnoea, insomnia, restless legs syndrome and many more. Based on the results of the sleep analysis, we develop individual treatment programs that can include behavioural changes, medication and special therapies.

Our goal is to help people sleep better, because restful sleep is crucial for health and well-being.

Why a sleep analysis?

Sleep is fundamental to our health, mental performance and well-being. A sleep analysis helps to assess the quality of your sleep and identify problems such as sleep apnoea, restless legs, or other disorders that may be affecting your sleep.

By treating sleep disorders, we can not only improve the quality of sleep, but also reduce the risk of associated health problems such as cardiovascular diseases, obesity and diabetes. As a matter of fact, a wide range of illnesses and impairments can be triggered or promoted by poor sleep.

When should you come to us?

If you answer "yes" to two of the following questions, you may have a sleep disorder and should consult our team for an examination:

  • Do you snore very loudly? Have family or friends pointed this out to you?
  • Has your partner often nudged you at night?
  • Has your partner told you that you suddenly gasp loudly at night?
  • Has your partner woken you up because you have stopped breathing?
  • Do you often feel weak and tired in the morning?
  • Are you often very tired?
  • Have you ever fallen asleep while driving, in an important meeting or playing with your children or grandchildren?
  • Do you think you can sleep for less than four hours per night?
  • Have you ever woken up out of bed without knowing why?

How does the analysis work?

The analysis is completely painless. You spend one night in our sleep laboratory at the Melittaklinik. Various sensors are used to monitor important bodily functions such as brain activity, heart rate, breathing and muscle activity, in order to create a comprehensive picture of your sleep.

This information enables us to recognise specific sleep problems and to develop appropriate treatment programs.
